On Saturday 23 November, The King and Queen and The Crown Princess attended the jubilee performance "For the Environment — With the Times" at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. The performance was staged to commemorate The King's fortieth jubilee, by research institutes and environmental organisations in association with the Royal Dramatic Theatre.

"For the Environment — With the Times" is based on The King's interest and involvement in issues relating to nature and the environment, and was written in collaboration between the Royal Dramatic Theatre, the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, the Stockholm Environment Institute, the Stockholm International Water Institute, the Stockholm Resilience Centre and WWF. The organisers wished to thank The King for his untiring and personal commitment to environmental issues, and for the support that he shows to environmental organisations in various ways. "For the Environment — With the Times" is a journey through time addressing forty years of environmental issues, from their awakening in the 1970s to today's global climate conferences. Actors, experts and decision-makers come together in a dialogue about our future. The compères for the performance were the actress Lena Endre and Johan Kuylenstierna, Executive Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute.
