On Tuesday 12 November, The Crown Princess Couple attended the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences' 217th formal gathering.
The formal gathering began with a ceremony in the Exchange Hall, where The Crown Princess presented the Academy's gold medal, 8th size, to the Head of the Home Guard, Brigadier Roland Ekenberg. A formal dinner was then held in the Hall of State at Karlberg Palace. The predecessor of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences, the Swedish Military Society, was founded on 12 November 1796. The society initially consisted of four sections: the tactical, artillery, fortification and mathematical sections. A naval section was established in 1804. The society thus covered the entire armed forces. The King is patron of the Academy.
