On Friday 12 April, The King received four new foreign ambassadors at formal audiences at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
Joseph Sang is the newly appointed ambassador for Kenya, and most recently served as Minister Counsellor/Olympics Attaché at the Kenya High Commission in London.

Bayani S. Mercado is the newly appointed ambassador for the Philippines, and is concurrently accredited from Oslo.

Sonam Tshong is the newly appointed ambassador for Bhutan, and is concurrently accredited from Brussels.

BA Hawa Keita is the newly appointed ambassador for Mali, and is concurrently accredited from Berlin.

At the ceremony, the ambassadors submit their credentials — a document from their head of state — to The King, who then grants them the formal right to work in Sweden.

Formal audiences follow a traditional ceremony. The ambassador is collected in one of the Royal Mews' carriages from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and is taken to the Royal Palace of Stockholm. The King and the ambassador then talk in private for around fifteen minutes.
