On Thursday 25 October, The Queen opened the BARN DOM exhibition at Fotografiska in Stockholm.
The opening ceremony began with Jan Broman, one of the founders of Fotografiska, welcoming all those present and explaining about the collaboration between the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation and Fotografiska. Olle Björk, Secretary General of the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation, then spoke about what the project has meant for the Foundation and the young people involved in the project. The Queen declared the exhibition open with a brief speech, after which she had the opportunity to meet the young exhibitors. The exhibition consists of photographs taken by young cancer sufferers and survivors, with the aim of improving people's understanding of what it can be like to suffer from cancer during childhood.
Photography course for young people
During the year, eleven young people from around Sweden had the opportunity to take part in a photography course at Fotografiska Academy, thanks to a collaboration between the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation and Fotografiska. In the exhibition, they showed what they had learnt during the course. Find out more about Fotografiska here. Find out more about the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation here.
