On Tuesday 18 September, the Royal Family attended the opening of the Parliamentary Session.
The Royal Family arrived at the Riksdag by horse and carriage, and were met by Speaker Per Westerberg. The King declared the Parliamentary Session open, after which Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt read the Statement of Government Policy. In his speech, The King spoke about the importance of making everyday life a little better and a little brighter for future generations, and the fact that Raoul Wallenberg would have been 100 years old this year. "Raoul Wallenberg's memory has been honoured all around the world this year, with activities on the themes of tolerance, the struggle for human rights, individual responsibility, personal courage and the strength to dare to stand up for others." In the evening, the Royal Family attended a concert at Stockholm Concert Hall to mark the opening of the Parliamentary Session.
