The King visits Dalarna
On Wednesday 19 September, The King visited Dalarna.
The visit was hosted by County Governor Maria Norrfalk. The King had been invited to Dalarna to learn about the county as a pilot county for green development. The theme for the day was the county's energy efficiency work for a sustainable climate.
The day began in Avesta with visits to roofing company Hedbergs Tak and fan manufacturer Östberg
. The King was given tours of the factories and learnt about how the companies are building energy-efficient industrial premises.
The visit then continued to Falun and Falu Energi & Vatten's new bioenergy plant. The municipal company explained about its operations and how energy, heating, cooling and pellets are produced. The King then visited Dalarna University in Borlänge, where he was given a presentation of research into solar energy. The tour included the laboratory and the "sun roof" where solar energy systems are tested.
The visit to Dalarna concluded at ABB in Ludvika. In order to retain its leading position within power transmission, ABB Ludvika is investing in research and development. One aim is that all products should meet the highest possible quality and safety standards, with the lowest possible environmental impact.
