On Monday 30 April, The King's birthday was celebrated according to tradition in the Outer Courtyard.
A couple of thousand people gathered in the beautiful weather in the Outer Courtyard to congratulate The King on his 66th birthday. The celebrations began with music from the Swedish Navy's Music Corps, with the entrance procession accompanied by the Regina March, followed by the Drotthornet March, a The Ark medley, The Winner Takes It All, and finally the Florentine March. The Armed Forces Music Corps then performed a programme beginning with the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment's march Artillery 5, Drum Salute 01 and Euphoria, concluding with the Västerbotten Regiment's march, the Helenen March. There then followed a 21-gun salute from Skeppsholmen and the changing of the Guard with music from the Life Guards' Dragoon Music Corps. Children presented The King with flowers and drawings. The Queen and The Crown Princess Couple watched the celebrations from one of the palace balconies. Prince Carl Philip was in the Outer Courtyard during the celebrations. The celebrations concluded with The King and Queen, The Crown Princess Couple, Princess Estelle and Prince Carl Philip waving to the members of the public who had gathered in the Outer Courtyard.
