On Friday 27 January, The King presented the Royal Court Orchestra's Medal of Merit at the Royal Swedish Opera House in Stockholm.
The ceremony began with a welcoming address by Opera Director Birgitta Svendén, after which The King gave a speech before the medals were presented.

The Royal Court Orchestra is one of the world's oldest orchestras still in existence, and was mentioned as early as 1526, during the reign of Gustav Vasa, in the Court Administration's accounts.
