On Tuesday 28 August, The King presented the Polar Music Prize to Yo-Yo Ma and Paul Simon at Stockholm Concert Hall.
During the ceremony, artists including First Aid Kit, Ale Möller, Frida Hyvönen, Laleh, Loreen and Timbuktu & Damn! performed music by the prize winners, and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the direction of Hans Ek. After the award ceremony, a banquet was held at the Grand Hôtel. The Polar Music Prize was instituted in 1989 by Stig "Stickan" Andersson, and the first prize-giving ceremony was held in 1992.
