On Saturday 22 September, the Order of Neptuni celebrated its bicentenary at Stockholm City Hall.
The King took part in the celebratory event in his capacity as highest patron of the Order. The Swedish Navy's Music Corps was among those providing the entertainment. The Order of Neptuni was founded in 1812 by stranded Swedish sailors and soldiers in England during the Napoleonic Wars. The Order provides financial support for sailors and their surviving relatives, and carries out other charitable work among its members. Its funds come from returns on donations, bequests and gifts. Each year, around one million kronor is awarded in the form of support, grants and scholarships.
