On Thursday 4 October, The King and Queen began their visit to Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
The visit began in the afternoon at the Nelson Cultural Center, where The King and Queen were welcomed by the American Swedish Institute's President and CEO Bruce Karstadt. The centre was opened in June 2012, and is a Swedish cultural centre in Minneapolis including an art gallery, studios and large exhibition spaces. During the visit, artist Helena Hernmarck showed her "In Our Nature" exhibition, and architect Tim Carl talked about the work involved in building the centre with as little environmental impact as possible. In the evening, the American Swedish Institute held a dinner for The King and Queen.
