On Thursday 6 September, The King and Queen visited Danderyd Municipality.
In the morning, The King and Queen arrived at Djursholm Chapel, accompanied by County Governor Chris Heister, where they were welcomed by Chairman of the Municipal Council Björn Hamilton, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board Olle Reichenberg, Municipal Director Johan Haesert and Chairman of the Board of the Djursholm Chapel Foundation Hans Fletcher. The King and Queen learnt about the chapel, after which a short service was held. Music by Alice Tegnér was performed by the choir and soloist Cecilia von Heijne. The King and Queen then visited the Mittag-Leffler Institute, where they had the opportunity to speak with young mathematics researchers. At Nora Strand, The King and Queen were given a presentation of environmental measures taken to prevent flooding and other local environmental and water conservation projects. The morning concluded at Marina Secondary Grammar School, where The King and Queen were given an insight into the pupil's work at the boat workshop. The King and Queen then went on board the school's long-distance sailing ship Älva, together with the marine biology pupils. Älva moored up at Ekudden, from where The King and Queen, the County Governor and the Chairman of the Municipal Council made their way by horse and carriage to Djursholm Castle for lunch. After lunch, The King and Queen visited Träffpunkt Enebyberg, a centre for senior citizens and young people. The King and Queen then visited Tobii Technology, which specialises in core eye tracking technology. They were given a demonstration of the company's eye-controlled communication systems. The King and Queen then visited Danderyd Cultural School, which demonstrated its many varied activities. The visit concluded at Kvarn Park, where The King and the Chairman of the Municipal Council gave speeches and musical performances took place. The King also presented the Educational Committee Board's award for the best preschool/school in Danderyd. Find out more about Danderyd Municipality here.
