On Monday 28 May, The Crown Princess presented the 2012 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award — the ALMA prize — to Dutch author Guus Kuijer at Stockholm Concert Hall.
The prize-giving ceremony was led by Johanna Koljonen and Daniel Sjölin, and began with a musical performance by First Aid Kitexternal link, opens in new window and a speech by Kerstin Brunnberg, Chairman of the Swedish Arts Council. Virpi Pahkinenexternal link, opens in new window then performed her dance piece Dance of the Black Bird, and Sarah and George Riedel sang two songs. Unga Klara gave a short performance from Guus Kuijer's The Book of Everything, and Minister for Culture Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth gave a speech before The Crown Princess presented the ALMA prize to Guus Kuijer.
