On Wednesday 14 November, The Crown Princess attended the Child Diabetes Foundation's fundraising dinner at Berns in Stockholm, in connection with World Diabetes Day.
During the event, The Crown Princess presented the Johnny Ludvigsson Award, which is presented each year to two prominent child diabetes researchers. This year, the award went to Professor Olli Simell and Professor Per-Ola Carlsson. Olli Simell, Professor at the University of Turku in Finland, received a scholarship of SEK 250,000 for "the Nordic region's leading child diabetes research". Per-Ola Carlsson, Professor at Uppsala University, received a scholarship of SEK 50,000 for outstanding younger researchers. This was the second year running that the Child Diabetes Foundation, in association with Lilly Diabetes and Stockholms Auktionsverk, had arranged a charity auction on World Diabetes Day.
