State visit to South Korea: Day 3
On Thursday 31 May, The King and Queen continued their state visit to South Korea.
The day began with The King giving a speech at the Sweden-Korea Innovation and Business Forum. The aim of the forum was to show how innovation can be encouraged, leading to greater business opportunities and economic growth. The forum consisted of two parts: "Inspiring Innovation — Finding the Future Solutions", which dealt with creativeness, and "Innovation to Market — Making it Happen", which looked at how companies can work with innovation and recruitment. The King then attended a seminar arranged by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology. After a lunch with representatives from Swedish and South Korean industry, The King visited Autoliv Korea where he was given a tour of the factory and the testing centre. He also had the opportunity to meet Autoliv Korea employees.
In the morning, The Queen opened the Sweden-Korea Dementia Forum, where speakers included Silviahemmet's Wilhelmina Hoffman. The Queen had the opportunity to meet staff and patients at the Bucheon Geriatric Medical Center, where the forum was held. The Queen then visited the International Vaccine Institute, where she was given a tour of the premises after lunch. She also learnt about the latest vaccine-related research.
The afternoon concluded with a press conference for Swedish and South Korean journalists, after which The King and Queen held a reciprocal reception for the South Korean Presidential couple.
