Prince Daniel attends Gothia Cup

On Monday 16 July, Prince Daniel attended the Gothia Cup at Heden in Gothenburg.
The visit began with the Prince watching the second half of a match between AIK and Cantalao from Peru in the elite class Gothia Tipselit Trophy for boys aged 17 years. This is a class for specially invited elite teams, which is organised in partnership with the Swedish Football Association.

Afterwards the Prince had the opportunity to meet players from Grunden Boisexternal link, opens in new window, and to watch some of the match between them and French team Olympique Lyonnais in the Kim Källström Trophy. The Prince met players from Grunden Bois on a previous occasion, in March 2011external link.

Prince Daniel was also informed about Meet the Worldexternal link — an international qualifier organised every year in some 20 different countries, in partnership with Swedish engineering company SKF.

To conclude the visit, the Prince met the players who took part in an international exhibition match between two mixed teams. The mixed teams included players from various teams that had qualified for the tournament via Meet the World.
