On Wednesday 3 October, Prince Carl Philip visited Östersund where the programme of events included presenting the Swedish Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.
The Prince began the day with a visit to Frösö Handtryck. The company was established in 1946, and is one of only a few hand textile printers in Sweden. The Prince then visited silversmith Kerstin Öhlin Leijonklou. Kerstin has worked in Östersund since 1963, and makes gold and silver jewellery. Lunch was held at the County Governor's official residence, and was hosted by County Governor Britt Bohlin. The afternoon began with a visit to the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre, where The Prince learnt about current research. The Prince then visited Entrepreneurship Days at Mid Sweden University, where he presented the Swedish Social Entrepreneur of the Year award. The winner was spreadthesign.com. The day concluded with a visit to the Biathlon Stadium, where The Prince tried his hand at the biathlon and learnt about the Swedish Biathlon Federation's World Championships 2019 campaign and the Swedish Ski Association's application for the Alpine World Ski Championships 2019 in Åre.
