On Monday 20 February and Tuesday 21 February, Prince Carl Philip visited the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Gland, Switzerland.
During the visit, Prince Carl Philip was informed by IUCN's Director General Julia Marton-Lefèvre and others about the work of the organisation. The Prince was also appointed a Patron of Nature of the organisation.
During the welcoming ceremony at IUCN's head offices, the Prince said that he was extremely happy to be given the opportunity to work with IUCN and that he was looking forward to making a contribution.
Patrons of Nature play an important role in IUCN's work by helping to raise awareness about the organisation and getting the message across to decision-makers.
Film-maker and photographer Mattias Klum, IUCN Goodwill Ambassador, also took part in the visit.
