Welcome to Open Palace! Photo: Christine Olsson/Scanpix.
As is traditional, the Royal Palace of Stockholm was open on 6 June, with free entry.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine pushed open the heavy doors on Slottsbacken at 10:00, to commemorate Sweden's National Day and to welcome the public. This year, the theme of the Open Palace event was remembering Prince Bertil, who was born one hundred years ago. Prince Bertil's Apartments were therefore open to the public during the day. A photographic exhibition about Prince Bertil was also opened in the Guard's Hall of the Bernadotte Apartments. The exhibition will remain open all summer, until 16 September. In the Inner Courtyard, the Royal Mews displayed cars with a connection to Prince Bertil, and a carriage was on display inside the East Gate.
