On Thursday 9 June, The Queen awarded diplomas and brooches to Sweden's first Silvia nurses.
The presentation took place during a ceremony at Silviahemmet at Drottningholm, near Stockholm. Commissioner for the Elderly Joakim Larsson attended, and Silviahemmet's Operational Manager Wilhelmina Hoffman and Director Margareta Skog addressed the newly-qualified Silvia nurses and wished them good luck.
The Silviahemmet foundation was founded at The Queen's initiative in 1996. The training of Silvia Sisters and Silvia nurses and the certification of entire units is carried out alongside broader education in practical dementia care for various categories of healthcare staff. Silviahemmet strives to play an active role in the development of quality care for dementia sufferers and their relatives.
