On Thursday 1 September, The King and Queen visited Borås.
The day began with a visit to SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden, where The King and Queen were given a presentation of the "Waste Recovery in Borås — International Partnership" project. This is an international project involving sharing experiences with other countries. The King and Queen then visited Solbacken waste disposal plant, where they were given a tour. Lunch was served at Sinnenas Hus, and had been prepared by pupils at Almås Upper Secondary School. During lunch, students from the Swedish School of Textiles showcased their degree projects in the form of a fashion show directed by Marketplace Borås. The day concluded with a visit to artist Jim Dine's sculpture "Pinocchio — Walking to Borås" and a sculpture tour concluding at Tony Cragg's work "Declination".
