The King and Queen's visit to Saudi Arabia

In the afternoon, The King and Queen met representatives from the world's ten largest Scouting organisations. The King and Queen then visited the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST), a university that is open to both men and women, and where all classes are taught in English. In the evening, The King and Queen attended the launch of the Messengers of Peace campaign. On Thursday 29 September, The King took part in the World Scout Foundation's board meeting. At the same time, The Queen and Princess Adelah visited the Dar-Al-Hanan and Dar-Al-Hekma schools, where they learnt about developments within women's education in Saudi Arabia. They then visited the Al-Faisaliah Welfare Society, where the work of Saudi Arabian women within the social sphere was addressed. After lunch, The Queen attended a presentation on the position of Saudi Arabian women within a number of fields, including finance, medicine, the media and literature. In the afternoon, The King and Queen were given a guided tour of the older parts of Jeddah. In the evening, The King and Queen were invited to a dinner together with business representatives from Jeddah and the board of the World Scout Foundation. On Friday 30 September, The King and Queen flew to Riyadh to visit King Abdullah, together with Scouting representatives and delegates from the Swedish Embassy in Saudi Arabia. Here, The King presented the Bronze Wolf to King Abdullah on behalf of the World Scout Foundation. The King and Queen then departed from Saudi Arabia.
