On Tuesday 18 January, The Crown Princess began her second day in the United Arab Emirates with a visit to the International Renewable Energy Agencyexternal link, opens in new window, IRENA.
The Crown Princess then visited the Masdar Instituteexternal link, opens in new window in Masdar Cityexternal link, opens in new window. Masdar City is a newly-built district that will be an entire carbon-neutral suburb of Abu Dhabi.
 
In Masdar City, The Crown Princess also attended the opening ceremony for Sweden's SymbioCityexternal link, opens in new window offices.
 
The afternoon began with a visit to IKEA's new store in Abu Dhabi. Once it is completed, this will be the biggest store in the region. The Crown Princess was given a tour of the store, and she planted a tree outside the entrance.
 
In the evening, The Crown Princess attended a meeting for the Swedish colony at the Radisson Hotel on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island. She then attended the Zayed Future Energy Prizeexternal link, opens in new window award ceremony at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
