On Tuesday 23 August, The Crown Princess awarded the Stockholm Junior Water Prize.
At a ceremony in the Victoria Hall at the Älvsjö Conference Centre, The Crown Princess presented the award to Alison Bick from the USA, and an honorary diploma to Prasan Warnakula from Sri Lanka. Alison won the award for her work to use mobile phones to test water quality. This project has taken four years to complete, and means that water quality tests are now both quicker and cheaper. The Stockholm Junior Water Prize brings together thousands of participants from 28 different countries, and is an open competition for young people aged between 15 and 20. The winner receives a $5,000 prize and a hand-blown glass crystal trophy. The Crown Princess is patron of the award, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
