The Crown Princess Couple have spent two days visiting Västernorrland.
Tuesday 8 November began with a visit to the Wood Academy at Kramfors, a furniture and construction craftsmanship programme which trains students to carry out traditional professionally skilled work in the future. They then visited the Folke Bernadotte Academy on Sandö. The Academy is a Ministry for Foreign Affairs authority dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of international conflict and crisis management, with a particular focus on peace operations. Folke Bernadotte is best known in Sweden for his work with the White Buses operation towards the end of the Second World War. Internationally, he is best known for his efforts in connection with the Israel-Palestine conflict. It was during this mission that he was assassinated in 1948. After lunch at the Folke Bernadotte Academy, The Crown Princess Couple visited Semret, a home in Härnösand for immigrant children who have come to Sweden alone.
