On Sunday 18 September, The Crown Princess attended a memorial ceremony in Uppsala to mark Dag Hammarskjöld's death 50 years ago.
The memorial ceremony began by laying a wreath at the Hammarskjöld family grave in Uppsala's Old Cemetery. The Crown Princess then listened to a seminar at Uppsala University. The speaker was Jan Eliasson, former Minister for Foreign Affairs and President of the United Nations General Assembly.
