Princess Madeleine has carried out two project visits for Childhood, one to Changzhou, 200 kilometres east of Shanghai, and one to Hohhot, in Inner Mongolia.
Princess Madeleine is a Childhood project administrator for a programme called Half the Sky, which operates in China and Inner Mongolia. Half the Sky works with abandoned children who live in children's homes. The programme aims to help children up to the age of 16 through adult contact and education. After her visit, Princess Madeleine said: "I have been to China in this capacity several times, but this visit was particularly important as Half the Sky continues to expand in more regions in China." Half the Sky has helped to raise awareness of children's rights, and has been a model for several other organisations in China. Find out more about the visit at Childhood's website.
