The King has decided on the recipients of H.M. The King's Medal and the Litteris et Artibus Medal.
H.M. The King's Medal was instituted around 1814, and is awarded in a number of different sizes. It is awarded to Swedish and foreign citizens for exceptional merits and to leading figures at the Royal Court for long and faithful service. The Litteris et Artibus Medal was instituted in 1853 by Crown Prince Carl (XV). "Litteris et Artibus" is Latin for "Science and Art". The medal is awarded for outstanding artistic contributions, mainly within the fields of music, theatrical performance and literature. The medals will be awarded on Wednesday 2 February at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
