On Monday 25 October, The Crown Princess presented the National Encyclopaedia's Knowledge Awards 2010 at the Knowledge Gala held in Stockholm City Hall.
This year's Knowledge Gala saw the inclusion of a new category, the People's Choice award. The winner of this category is chosen by an online vote in which the entire population of Sweden is eligible to vote.

The Knowledge Awards' 2010 International Honorary Prize was awarded to Professor Jared Diamond for "spreading knowledge based on his exceptionally interdisciplinary breadth and research through a series of significant popular science works and lectures, particularly in relation to the nature and development of mankind — often with an ecological perspective".

The Knowledge Awards are Sweden's top awards for the innovative distribution of knowledge. They were established in 2002 by the National Encyclopaedia.
