The Crown Princess attends a conference on antibiotic resistance

On Monday 6 September, The Crown Princess attended the conference "The Global Need for Effective Antibiotics — Moving towards Concerted Action" at Uppsala University.
The conference dealt with the growing bacterial resistance caused by the use and misuse of antibiotics, combined with the decreasing levels of research into new medicines.

The welcome speech was given by Anders Hallberg, Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University. Other speakers included Otto Cars, Chairman of ReAct Sweden, Zulfiqar Bhutta from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan, and Guénaël Rodier, Director of the Division of Communicable Diseases at WHO Europe.
