On Tuesday 14 December, Mentor Sweden held a board meeting at the Royal Palace. The Queen is Honorary Chair and the Chairman of the Board is Jan Carlzon.
Mentor is based on the belief that young people need adult mentors. Lots of healthy relationships with adults can often be the key factor in protecting young people from drugs and violence. Mentor therefore follows a dual approach, working partly with mentors, where a young person and an adult form a mentoring partnership for a period of a year, and partly through providing active support to parents. Mentor also works with schools all over the country. Mentor Sweden cooperates with the Mentor Foundation, which is an international umbrella organisation. Mentor is currently involved in projects in over 70 countries and has reached more than 2.5 million children and young people since it was founded.
Mentor was founded by Queen Silvia in 1994.
