The King opened the Museum of National Antiquities' new exhibition, History of Sweden, on Thursday 27 May in the presence of The Queen.
In his inaugural speech, The King said: "It is said that without the past, there is no future. Our dreams of the future are based on our experiences from the past and the present. "There are many different ways of acquiring historical knowledge. But the contributions being made by various museums across Sweden are priceless. Our museums have the opportunity to create a sense of direct contact with the past through unique collections of original articles. The articles become a link between history and our time."
