Crown Princess attends Sweden Week in Seattle
The Crown Princess attended Sweden Week in Seattle on Friday 7 May and Saturday 8 May.
The programme on the first day began with a visit to the Gates Foundation
. The Gates Foundation, which was established by Bill and Melinda Gates in 2000, supports vulnerable people.
Afterwards The Crown Princess visited the University of Washington and the Department of Scandinavian Studies
. The Department was founded in 1909 and offers courses in the Scandinavian languages, literature, history, politics and ethnology.
In the afternoon The Crown Princess visited Swedish Hospital, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The Crown Princess was shown around the hospital and informed about the history of the hospital and its work.
In the evening The Crown Princess attended a dinner organised for the Nobel Laureates living in Seattle and the surrounding area.
Crown Princess Victoria visited the Swedish Cultural Center and Swedish School on the morning of Saturday 8 May. The Crown Princess met the pupils and was given a guided tour of the centre.
The afternoon began with a visit to artist Dale Chihuly. Following the visit, The Crown Princess viewed the exhibition "The Dream of America" at the Nordic Heritage Museum. The Crown Princess also attended the Arctic Summer Fashion Show, which took place at the Nordic Heritage Museum.
