On Friday 17 April, a reception was given at the Royal Palace to mark the engagement between The Crown Princess and Mr Daniel Westling. At the reception, Mr Daniel Westling was introduced to representatives of official Sweden, and guests were given the opportunity to congratulate The Crown Princess and Mr Daniel Westling on their engagement.

Guests at the reception included representatives from the Swedish parliament, government and local authorities, county governors, representatives from the business community and various organisations.

Folk musicians from Västergötland played music from the regions of Västergötland and Gästrikland (Ockelbo) at the reception. The musical entertainment ended with a newly-composed engagement waltz by Lars-Olof Ejstes, dedicated to The Crown Princess and Mr Daniel Westling.
