Queen participates in EU conference on healthy and dignified ageing

On Wednesday 16 September, The Queen took part in a conference on healthy and dignified ageing at Frösundavik, Solna.
The conference was organised by the Swedish EU Presidency. The aim of the conference is to highlight ageing issues on the EU's agenda, and to emphasise the need for increased cooperation in these issues in order to improve quality of life for older citizens in all EU countries.

In her speech, The Queen spoke about the establishment of Silviahemmet. The Queen also remarked that "there are many who are not given the chance to grow old with the dignity. The success stories that we share at this conference therefore have an important role to play."
