A couple of thousand people gathered in the outer courtyard of the Royal Palace in the beautiful weather to celebrate the King's 63rd birthday.
The King's birthday was celebrated according to tradition with music from the Drum corps, the Music Corps, the Band of the Life Guards, the Changing of the Guard, a 21-gun salute from Skeppsholmen, and flowers and drawings from a huge number of children.

The Drum Corps played an ABBA medley, and the Music Corps played the T46 march by Lars Enoksson. The Band of the Life Guard played May Song by Béen, and both music corps concluded the routine with a traditional joint performance of Marcia Carolus Rex.
The Queen, The Crown Princess and Princess Madeleine watched the celebrations from one of the palace balconies. Prince Carl Philip was unable to attend as he was away from home. Mr. Daniel Westling will not be taking part in official engagements until after the wedding.
