King presents 2009 Nobel Prizes

The Royal Family participated in the Nobel festivities on Thursday 10 December, beginning with the ceremony at Stockholm Concert Hall. The King awarded the Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine and Literature, as well as the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.

Jewellery and attire


The King wore the Order of the Seraphim's light blue ribbon and grand star, the Order of the Vasa's grand cross and star and the Order of the Polar Star's cross in a black ribbon around his neck. He also wore four memorial medals of Kings Gustaf V, Gustaf VI Adolf, Haakon VII and Olav V of Norway (miniature badges).

The Queen wore a light green dress with embroidered tulle in pink and pale lilac. For the occasion The Queen chose to wear Queen Sophia's tiara, a baroque pearl necklace and grey pear-shaped earrings. The Queen wore the Order of the Seraphim's light blue ribbon and grand star, as well as a miniature portrait of The King framed with diamonds.

The Crown Princess wore a damson-coloured silk satin dress. To accompany the outfit The Crown Princess wore a six-button tiara, which is a crown jewel and part of the Swedish Royal Regalia. The Crown Princess' earrings and necklace were set with amethysts. The Crown Princess wore the Order of the Seraphim's light blue ribbon and grand star, as well as a miniature portrait of The King framed with diamonds.

Princess Madeleine wore an emerald duchess dress trimmed with black lace. The dress was accompanied by a four-button tiara. Princess Madeleine also wore her own diamond necklace and diamond earrings. The Princess wore the Order of the Seraphim's light blue ribbon and grand star, as well as a miniature portrait of The King framed with diamonds.
