On Thursday 11 June, The King opened the Vattenfall Climate Week. In his opening speech, The King said that "our impact on the climate is one of the most important issues facing humanity. We all have a responsibility to act to secure our future."
In the evening Vattenfall celebrated its 100th anniversary. The King spoke of when, as a ten-year-old, he had accompanied his mother, Princess Sibylla, to the opening of the power station at Näverede-Stugun in Jämtland in 1956. The King had a clear memory of climbing up onto a generator and being made an “honorary engineer."
