On Tuesday 25 August, The Crown Princess attended the ceremonial opening of the Sami Parliament at Kiruna Town Hall.
The opening speech was made by Chair of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, Victoria Tauli-Corpuz from the Philippines, and there was a performance by the choir, Sámi Jienat.
Speeches were also made by Minister for Agriculture Eskil Erlandsson, and Minister for Integration and Gender Equality, Nyamko Sabuni, and Therese Labba, winner of the Sami Parliament election committee's drawing competition for children, "Sami future", was given particular attention.
