Their Majesties and The Crown Princess Attend Film Premiere

The King and The Queen, along with Crown Princess Victoria attended the premiere of of the motion picture "Tali-Ihantala 1944 - The Battle of Finland" in Stockholm on January 16th. They were welcomed to the screening by Mr. Alec Aalto, Finland´s Ambassador to Sweden.

The film, directed by Mr. Åke Lindman and Mr. Sakari Kirjavainen, is based on the true story of what unfolded in Finnish Tali-Ihantala during a couple of weeks during the summer of 1944.

The battle was the largest ever fought on Nordic soil and close to 9 000 Finnish and 22 000 Soviet soldiers lost their lives. In the end the Finnish units finally succeeded to end the Soviet advancement.
