On 4 March at the RoyalPalace, Queen Silvia received the first group of women trained by the organisation Sharafs hjältar (Honour's Heroes). The twelve young women all come from Gothenburg and are now ready to visit schools and talk about honour culture and human rights. Sharafs hjältar aims to change attitudes to honour culture, using discussions and talks.
The organisation started four years ago at youth organisation Fryshuset in Stockholm and has now been established at several sites around the country, including Gothenburg. The heroes now include both men and women.
The King and Queen first met representatives from Sharafs hjältar during a visit focused on integration in Gothenburg last autumn
