On Thursday evening Their Majesties, The King and The Queen, gave their first official dinner of the year. Guests included representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Riksdag (Sweden´s parliament), the government, counties and government authorities.

Other guests were also on hand representing the sciences, culture, sports and from trade and industry. The some 150 guests were welcomed by The King and The Queen in The White Sea and dinner was taken in Charles XI´s Gallery.

The Menu


The menu included chicken consommé in jelly with black Périgord truffles and a winter salad, fried filet of pike-perch and sea urchin butter, guinea fowl served in two ways: poached breast with fig gravy and Swedish ecological duck liver, honey glazed thigh with kumquat jam and potato confit. For dessert a chocolate mousse was served with white chocolate cream, Sacher and ice cream.

The King escorted Psychiatrist Ylwa Westerberg, wife of the Speaker, to the table. On his left he had Cabinet Minister Cecilia Malmström. The Queen was escorted to the table by Speaker Per Westerberg with Cabinet Minister Mats Odell on her other side, who also escorted The Crown Princess to the table. The Ambassador of Pakistan, Shaheen A. Gilani, was seated to the right of The Crown Princess. Prince Carl Philip escorted Cabinet Minister Maud Olofsson to the table, and seated to his left was the Speaker´s wife.
