On Wednesday 3 September, The King opened Skellefteå Kraft´s new bioenergy plant in Storuman. The King was shown around the plant, which uses a totally unique process for effective handling of the forest´s raw materials. The raw material will consist of waste products from local sawmills that, following a unique steam-drying process, will have an efficiency ratio of 98%. This is better for the environment, and is twice as effective as conventional coal power plants. The King´s visit to Storuman ended with an excursion to Buberget nature reserve, which included further explanation of the concept “dead wood in the forest".
