On Thursday 4 September, The King visited the district of Skärholmen, just south of Stockholm. The King met residents, staff and young people at Sätra residential care home for older people, Bogsätra sheltered housing for the disabled, and the youth centre “2nd Home". The visit was concluded with the opening of Skärholmen´s new shopping centre, where several thousand people gathered to watch the festivities.

Opening speech

Forty years ago, The King´s uncle, Prince Bertil, paid a similar visit to Skärholmen. When The King made his opening speech, he pointed out that he was standing in the same place in Skärholmen Square as Prince Bertil had done 40 years previously.
