On January 22nd Crown Princess Victoria handed out the The 2007 Göteborg Award for Sustainable Development to Al Gore for his commitment to environmental issues. The award was presented at the environmental gala "Long Live the Planet" in Gothenburg.

The Crown Princess also participated in a conference that was arranged in connection with the gala.

The Göteborg Award for Sustainable Development is worth 1 million Swedish Kronor and has been awarded annually since 2000.

The award is given out in cooperation with the city of Gothenburg and Carl Bennet AB, Elanders AB, Eldan Recycling, Folksam, Götaverken Miljö, Handelsbanken, Nordea, PEAB, Schenker AB, SKF och Stena Metall AB.
