Crown Princess opens Uppsala University Hospital´s 300th Anniversary

Uppsala University Hospital celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2008, and Crown Princess Victoria opened the festive year on February 8th. She was also present at a symposium focusing on the future of medical care and research.

The symposium´s participants were medical students, employees of the University Hospital, politicians as well as representatives from both the private and public sectors. The anniversary will be celebrated all year with various activities.

Uppsala University Hospital is Sweden´s oldest university hospital. The first department was established in 1708. Today, the hospital is one of the country's most complete regional hospitals, with around 40 departments and over 8 200 employees. Its main fields of activity are medical care, teaching and research.
