His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf handed out the Nobel Diplomas in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine and Economics.
The Nobel Laureate in Literature, Ms Doris Lessing, was unable to attend the prize ceremony in Stockholm due to her health.

H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria wore a black satin skirt with a chiffon top, created by Pär Engsheden. The Crown Princess wore the “Karl Johan Tiara" with six diamond bows.
H.R.H. Princess Madeleine´s bordeaux-red velvet gown was designed by Linda Nurk. The Princess also wore pear-shaped pearl earrings and a tiara.
All of the members of the Royal Family wore the blue band of the Order of the Seraphim. The King also wore the Order of Vasa, the Order of the Polar Star and four medals honoring Swedish kings Gustaf V and Gustaf VI Adolf, as well as kings Haakon VII and Olav V of Norway.
