The day began at the County Administrative Board where The King and The Queen learned more about how the different municipalities coordinate their work in helping new people arriving in Sweden. They also received information from The Crisis and Trauma Unit for War and Torture Victims, as well as The Migration Board´s Application Office. Even “Platform Gothenburg," an organization which coordinates volunteer group´s contributions for immigrant´s introduction into society, spoke about their work.
The King and Queen also visited the so called “Introduction School" in Bergsjön, where classes in Swedish and information about Swedish society are offered to newly arrived families.
After the visit to Bergsjön The King and The Queen went on to Angered to visit ABF, where classes are offered to immigrants, as well as practical training and language skills for the work place.
Their Majesties also met with students and teachers from the KY Academy, an organization helping foreign technicians and engineers into society.
Mixgården is the municipality´s youth recreation center in Hammarkullen, which is aimed at young people between the ages of 13 - 20. There are even activities for young people between the ages of 10 - 12 organized a few hours per week.
While at Mixgården The King and The Queen also met with representatives from Sharaffs Hjälter (Sharaff´s Heroes), a group which actively works to widen the term of “honor" and to fight prejudice.
