Office of the Marshal of the Realm

The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is headed by Svante Lindqvist, who is accountable to The King for the activities of the entire Royal Court organization.
The Marshal of the Realm is responsible for contacts with the government and Riksdag (Swedish parliament) and conducts preparatory negotiations concerning state visits.
Supporting the Marshal of the Realm is the staff office with the Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Marshal of the Realm and the Court Secretary.
The Office of the Marshal of the Realm also includes:
- The Personnel Department
- The Finance Department
- The Information and Press Department
The work of the Office of the Marshal of the Realm The Office of the Marshal of the Realm conducts the legal and constitutional business of the Royal Court. This for example can include granting permission for the use of photographs of the Royal Family or the Royal Crown.
Requests from researchers for access to material in the Bernadotte archives is also administrated by the Office of the Marshal of the Realm.
The Personnel DepartmentThe Personnel Department carries out customary human resources duties such as salary and personnel administration as well as negotiations during the recruitment process. The department also formulates employee policies and schedules.
The number of permanent employees totals 203, equivalent to 188.2 full-time employees, of which 53% are women and 47% are men.
In addition, additional and seasonal personnel, equivalent to approximately 50 full-time positions, are hired for reinforcement during dinners, for the summer season's guided tours and other duties.
The Finance Department The Finance Department is responsible for accounting and other financial work at the Royal Court. The King's Council for the Royal CourtThe Marshal of the Realm manages the Royal Court's employees. The Office of the Marshal of the Realm organizes personnel functions, labour union negotiations and MBL (the law concerning right of participation in decision-making) issues.
Twice a month a management council consisting of the managers of the different departments meets to coordinate the Royal Court's various operations. The management group is headed by the Marshal of the Realm.
Other Duties of the Marshal of the Realm The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is also responsible for maintenance and guided tours of the Riddarholmen Church. Permission to use the church can be obtained from the office.
The Office of the Marshal of the Realm conducts the administration in conjunction with appointments, State notices, medals, etc.
