The King, The Crown Princess and Prince Carl Philip attend a meeting about Aurora 17

On Tuesday 14 November, The King, The Crown Princess and Prince Carl Philip held an audience with Supreme Commander Micael Bydén and Major General Bengt Andersson, leader of the Aurora 17 exercise.

During the meeting at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, Supreme Commander Micael Bydén and Major General Bengt Andersson described the results and conclusions from the military exercise.

The Aurora 17 exercise was carried out on 11-29 September, and was Sweden's biggest military exercise for more than 20 years. All the armed forces and more than 19,000 men and women – of which a quarter were from the Home Guard – took part. Several Swedish authorities and 2,000 military personnel from the USA, Finland, France, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark and Norway also participated.

Units from the whole of Sweden were involved, but the main exercise areas were in the Mälaren Valley and Stockholm, on and around Gotland, and in Gothenburg.

The King and Prince Carl Philip visited the military exercise on two occasions, on Gotlandopens in new window and in Västerljung and Fyrudden in Södermanlandopens in new window.
